Food for thought: Is there any person having all qualities which Valluvar has told? NO!!!

Are we training/trained for that?

Who's duty it is to train these qualities?

Which is the root cause of the worldy problems, whether it is rain or war?

Responsibilities of individuals as told by Puranaanooru

Please note it says the duty of father/men to make him noble.

Will it not be too harsh to say 'Men are failing in their duties to make their children noble'. So let us take it as common responsibility of both, men and women.

Cause of Animal like behaviour in Human beings

The cause of animal like behaviour is also in the system of education.

Lucky are we, who had been taught the best way of living by good south Indian literatures.
The moral we learnt from 'Aram Seyya Virumbu', 'Aaruvadu Sinam',etc, from Avvaiyar's Aathichudi and more from Thirukkural, etc... had made us Good human beings than any other religious preachings. These morals are more valuable than what our children are getting from 'Ring-a-Ring- a-Roses', 'Johny-Johny- Yes-Papa' , etc....
The subject of Social studies in schools of neighbouring countries contain lot of false projections on India and other religions. Their people are never made aware of the truth. This kind of poisoning is done right from the childhood...

Entire world is yet to find a solution to this problem, causing more worries to the Globans..
The cause of global worries is 'Manidha Abhimaanam Seththukittu irukku or even say Seththu vittadhu (the quality of being human is dead. If not, some humans will not behave like animals.

'Aaruvadhu Sinam'...means 'One should try to control his/her anger'...This will help you not to behave like an animal.. There is a difference between animal behaviour and lack of agressiveness in professional way.

If you get a chance read the adhigaaram 'Veghulaamai' on not getting anger. How much disaster will be caused by not controlling one's anger. Crossing the limit in not controlling one's anger is equalent to one person being dead and Crossing the limit in controlling anger is equivalent to becoming Gnani. So we should decide where we want to be.

I agree that we are not taught enough on how to dominate others. I hope you saw the recent Vijay TV Talk show 'Neeya Naana' which discussed about Madhiya Manasa (Brain or Heart, which one should rule what)...Finally the judgement was given as one should use both.

If someone suggests to modify those Avai's Aathisudi and Thiruvalluvar's Thirukural according to modern life, I will disagree on that. because, let the base be as it is. They are the only good things we have and we should not loose them. I recommend one can purchase copies of Thirukkural to teach them to their children and gift them to friends. By knowing a part of them, it is early to say that we should change them. Let us try to understand it in full to find solution to the present day problems.

Let us not come to a conclusion that we should modernise these good literatures. In fact we should propogate these characteristics to younger generations, instead of changing them.

Learning to behave in professional way is different from animal like behaviour. Can any one recommend to change the contents of any other books on ways of life in relation to the changing culture?

My interpretation of Kalki Avatar

Hindu Mythology says:

The tenth and the last avatar, or incarnation of Vishnu, Kalki, is yet to appear. Kalki will appear seated on a white horse with a drawn sword. He shall come finally to destroy the wicked, to restart the new creation, and to restore the purity of conduct in people's lives.

I could interpret this Kalki story to reality like this: The white horse is nothing but the clouds(sky) and the drawn sword is the blazing of comet.
So far the Earth is being protected from comets, thanks to the gravitational pulls of Saturn and Jupiter.

Nostradamus predictions says:

Le monde proche du dernier periode,
Saturne encor tard sera de retour;
Translat empier devers nation Brodde,
L’oeil arrache a Narbon par autour.
111.92

The world approaching its final period,
Saturn will again come late to his return;
The empire will be changed over to the dark-skinned nations,
And Narbonne will have her eye picked out by a hawk.

Toward the end of this great round, the black and brown nations will come into their own as centers of world power, and the French and other European nations will lose their supremacy. We are now entering the final phase of the old “world” or age, and the Third World nations are indeed coming into their own. This indicates a coming period of great ascent for brown and black races in the new order

If Nostradamus predictions are to be believed and the Mayan calendar applied then there is a possibilty of an asteroid/comet hitting earth between 2012 till 2020 causing partial extinction during the transition period.

http://cosmiclog. msnbc.msn. com/archive/ 2009/07/30/ 2014376.aspx

We also believe that a collision from an asteroid was responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs from the earth 65 million years ago.

Some of my views on Hindu Mythology

Why was the ocean churned in Hindu mythology?

In Hindu mythology, the churning of ocean was one of the central events in the ever-continuing struggle between the devas, who were gods, and the asuras, who were demons.
Both the gods and the demons wanted Amrit, the nectar of immortality which would give them the power to live forever. Brahma, the Creator, advised the gods to churn the ocean to obtain Amrit. He told them to use the Mount Meru as the churning stick, and the Serpent Vasuki as the rope that turns the churning stick.
The gods and demons wound the serpent around the mountain, and pulling it this way and that way, they splashed and dashed the ocean up and down and to and fro, and the ocean frothed and bubbled as they churned. The gods and demons continued churning for 100 divine years. As the churning proceeded, wine, milk, and butter were produced.. The ocean gave up many of its treasures as well as deadly poison that Lord Siva swallowed to save the universe from being destroyed.

I could relate this story to two real-time incidents:

1) Tsunami, which happens as a result of the earth quakes(on land surface or mountains) in the deep ocean. The rope is nothing but the cracks on the floor under ocean. The splashing and dashing of the ocean causes heavy waves.

2) Solar ecllipse, the appearance of Moon hidding the Sun was assumed as deadly poison, and slowly the Sun reappears after the ecllipse... the slow movement of Moon was assumed as Lord Siva swallowing the Moon. It is also told as deadly poison because if the ecllipse is seen with naked eye, it will burn the cornea of eyes, relating it to save the universe from being destroyed... Even during ecllipse, heavy tidal waves are created at sea shores due to the gravitational attraction of the sun and the moon. Reappearance of Sun is said as saving the universe from being destroyed, because without Sunlight human existence becomes impossible.

Both these incidents happen severely once in every 100 years.

So if were remove Gods and Demons from the story everything else is real time incidents.

If we are preaching these stories to our children, it will be nice if we could relate them to realtime events than just stories.

P.S: There is also a mountain called Meru in Kenya.

God is a myth

According to Carl Jung, the world famous pyscologist, myths are universal, and necessary for the health of human psyche.
I read, "Myths and legends are a universal human invention.. All races, without exception, have possesed their own unique mythology, which has arisen at different times and in different places, as explanations of the critical problems that people always face. These myths are ancient tales of wonder and glory, they are explanations about the mysteries of the universe in the form of stories that ordinary people can easily understand.
Why myths were created? From ancient times, human beings have been puzzled by many things that they saw around them. They wondered why mountains were shaped the way they were and why volcanoes spit fire. They pondered on what caused eclipses, and what made the sun move from East to West. They were amazed by the movement of the tides, the restless seas, the vast skies. They were also bewildered by the many mysteries of life. why do people die? What happens after death? Their questions were endless.

Wise men tried to find an explanation for all this, and they also tried to make ordinary people understand their reasoning through the wonderous stories called myths. Ancient rulers also played an important part in creating myths, and changing them too, when it suited them!

Some myths took the form of sacred religious texts, and were retold faithfully. Others changed with each teller, and people often forgot what the original version was! It is only much later, with the invention of the printing press that myhts were written down in a fixed form, So, a myth doesn't have an 'author' like a story has."

P.S: The authors of Ramayana might have overheard of it and put in print form. When Ram returned to Ayodhya with Sita and narrated the incidents, he might have told that some of the Dravidians were looking like monkeys and the painter literally drew dravidians with monkey-like mouths and tails.

People are spending more time in religious thoughts(listening to mythological stories) in their daily routines than highlighting the mistakes of the rulers and Gundas, ultimately causing the world a more insecure place to stay.

So believe in God only to the extent of gaining power to questioning the ruler and maintaining nature(environment) as it is at the time of creation.
I too believe in God only to the extent of getting additional strength to perform my duties. It can only be a moral support.
